Welcome
The International Carbohydrate Organisation and the Organising Committee are delighted to welcome all delegates and guests to the 32nd International Carbohydrate Symposium which is being organised by the Institute of Chemistry at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The International Carbohydrate Symposium ICS represents the most significant scientific event for carbohydrate chemists and biochemists. We are pleased to announce that we are organising the ICS for the second time, 52 years after the 7th ICS was hosted in Bratislava in 1974.
The ICS 2026 is a continuation of the successful biennial International Carbohydrate Symposia, providing a forum for scientists to discuss a range of topics pertaining to carbohydrates. These include the synthesis of carbohydrates, the structural analysis, spectroscopic and theoretical methods, the biochemistry of glycans and glycoconjugates, and the study of glycobiology and glycomaterials. The programme comprises eight plenary lectures, 32 invited lectures, and oral communications. The poster sessions are to be divided into two blocks on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. It is to be hoped that the programme will encompass all modern trends in the fields of carbohydrate chemistry, biochemistry and glycobiology.
The new building of the Slovak National Theatre has been chosen as the venue for the conference. Located in the heart of the city on the banks of the Danube, the building offers convenient access to the historic centre of the Old Town. It offers flexible, professionally equipped spaces suitable for a variety of events, including large plenary sessions, section lectures, board meetings and exhibitions.
The Organising Committee extends its best wishes for a fruitful and intellectually enriching symposium, and a most enjoyable sojourn in Bratislava and Slovakia.
Sincerely
Miloš Hricovíni
Symposium Chair
